Psychiatry for Depression and Anxiety

Our diverse Bespoke Treatment psychiatric team shares one central belief: everyone deserves high-quality, personalized psychiatric care. Our dedicated psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners are committed to helping you become the best version of yourself. While most psychiatrists only prescribe medication, our team provides multiple treatment options. This means medication may be just one component of your personalized treatment plan, not necessarily the entire plan.

Our provider are accutely aware of the challenges our patients face in finding a high quality provider who actually understands your needs. We utilize evidence-based therapies in conjunction with a personalized approach to help you achieve your mental health goals. Your progress will be meticulously tracked to ensure that your treatment plan stays on course.

Mental Healthcare Made For You

Our Santa Monica office wants you to enjoy life, discover your passion, and thrive. Depending on the diagnosis, some patients will thrive with medication like SSRIs or ADHD medications. For others, a non-drug solution may be required to recover from their mental health condition. Our providers will discuss all of your treatment options with you as they develop your personalized treatment plan. These options may include traditional psychiatric medication and interventional treatments such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS Therapy), Spravato (esketamine) nasal spray, and Prism Neurofeedback.

Is Psychiatry Right For You?

Are you unsure if you want to see a psychiatrist? Take the quiz below:

  • I experience little interest or pleasure in doing things.
  • I find myself not getting enough sleep or sleeping too much.
  • I feel tired all the time.
  • I have trouble focusing on normal activities.
  • I experience unwanted side effects from medications.
  • Medication doesn’t work quite right for me.
  • I have been diagnosed with depression, anxiety, or PTSD.

If you agreed with any of these statements, psychiatry might be a great option for you.

Our Specialties

Our practice specializes in treating adult depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, addiction, OCD, PTSD, C-PTSD, and adverse reactions to psychiatric medications prescribed by other doctors. Diagnoses are just labels and do not fully capture each patient’s individual experience. While we use labels for diagnosis and insurance purposes, we do not treat them as definitive. If you’re unsure about your diagnosis, our team can discuss it with you after a psychiatric evaluation.

Depression Treatments

Depression is often characterized by intense feelings of sadness or hopelessness, as well as anhedonia, or a loss of pleasure or interest in activities that usually bring joy. The disorder also brings forth many other symptoms that can significantly disrupt your health and quality of life. Some common symptoms or signs of depression include irritability, frustration, changes in appetite, insomnia, anxiety, fatigue, reduced concentration, and physical aches or pains. Although these symptoms are common, everyone experiences depression differently with symptoms of varying intensity.

Anxiety Treatments

Anxiety is a serious mental and behavioral disorder characterized by persistent and excessive worry about everyday events and activities. While it is natural to have concerns about life events, anxiety involves uncontrollable and irrational worry that can be all-consuming. This excessive concern can revolve around everyday matters such as health, finances, relationships, work, or family, and can cause significant distress and interfere with daily functioning. Anxiety can cause a wide range of mental, emotional, and physiological symptoms. To receive a diagnosis, symptoms must involve excessive anxiety or worry regarding multiple concerns, an inability to manage worries, and at least three of the following signs: irritability, difficulty concentrating, muscle tension, restlessness, fatigue, trouble sleeping, and significant distress in functioning.

Trauma Treatment

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a condition that can develop as a result of exposure to a single traumatic event or chronic exposure to multiple traumatic events, which can lead to complex PTSD (C-PTSD). The signs and symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) are intrusive memories (such as flashbacks, recurrent memories, and nightmares), avoidance symptoms (refraining from talking or thinking about the event or situations that could remind them of the event and difficulty remembering details of the event), symptoms that resemble depression (hopelessness about the future and memory problems), and becoming easily startled (feeling on edge constantly, difficulty sleeping, and aggressive behavior). The intensity of PTSD symptoms can vary from person to person and over time. Symptoms may be more frequent or intense when stressed or when reminded of the traumatic event.

OCD Treatment

OCD is characterized by a cycle of obsessions and compulsions that significantly impact daily functioning. Obsessions are unique to each individual, ranging from general tension to specific fears like the death of a loved one. These obsessions drive compulsive behaviors aimed at neutralizing the anxiety they cause. While individuals with OCD recognize that their compulsions are temporary and illogical, they rely on them to cope with the fear and anxiety evoked by their obsessions. Compulsions are time- consuming, disruptive to daily life, and may involve avoiding triggering situations.

ADHD Treatment

ADHD is a brain disorder affecting concentration and impulse control. Although often associated with children, it can persist into adulthood, impacting work performance and relationships. Adults with ADHD may experience poor impulse control, disorganization, difficulty concentrating, restlessness, and emotional outbursts. Many individuals may not recognize their symptoms, leading to challenges in daily tasks and potentially dangerous behaviors. Seeking understanding and support for ADHD can bring significant improvements to quality of life.

Psychiatry Testimonials at Bespoke Treatment

“The staff at Bespoke Treatment are very professional and understanding. I was very glad to find this facility and treatment is covered by Medicare and am about a week short of completing my 6 weeks of treatment. I can get out of bed, shower, get dressed and leave the house (yes, if you are depressed, you know how hard that is!). I have also (with my own Dr’s approval) been able to wean off 3 of 5 meds. Now if I only didn’t have to deal with traffic on the 405 to get there, it would be perfect!” – G. P.

“I was introduced to TMS through Bespoke Treatment and it has been a positive experience from the outset. After not responding to antidepressants for nearly a decade, I saw results from TMS after 2 weeks. The staff here are exceptional and I felt comfortable and informed throughout the progression of treatment. I highly recommend both TMS and this office for anyone struggling to address their depression.” – D. R.

“Living with the suffocating weight of depression and the relentless grip of anxiety for years, I had almost lost hope of ever finding relief. Therapy and medications only did so much and I was becoming really frustrated and desperate. However, my life took an unexpected turn when I discovered ketamine treatment at Bespoke – a transformative journey that would forever alter the trajectory of my life. From my very first interaction with the team at the Bespoke Treatment, I sensed something different. Their genuine compassion and understanding created a safe haven where I felt comfortable opening up about my struggles without fear of judgment. Their dedication to customizing the treatment to suit my individual needs reassured me that I was more than just another patient – I was a person with unique challenges deserving of personalized care. The ketamine infusion sessions themselves were nothing short of remarkable. Each session felt like a voyage of self-discovery. Like clockwork as the calming effects of the ketamine washed over me, it was as if my mind was finally granted respite from the constant storm of negative thoughts and emotions. It only took 2 sessions for me to feel the weight of depression relieve itself. I used to constantly fixate on things that could go wrong and feel the anticipation in my body, and I just don’t anymore. It’s been 6 months and I’m still noticing the positive changes in my life. My relationships blossomed, and I felt more present and engaged with the world around me. Activities that once seemed impossible became sources of genuine joy. The hopelessness that had once haunted me now seemed like a distant memory, replaced by a newfound appreciation for life’s wonders.” – A. C.

Board Certified Integrative Care

Just because we prescribe medication doesn’t mean we don’t excel in alternative treatments for depression and anxiety. We are thrilled when patients may find more relief with breathwork, exercise, or psychedelic medicinr. Our psychiatrists in Santa Monica will discuss all of your treatment options such as medication management, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS Therapy), Spravato esketamine nasal spray, and Prism Neurofeedback.

Psychiatric Evaluations

Our comprehensive review of your mental health history enables us to identify your unique abilities, struggles, and triggers. This information helps us to create an effective diagnosis and personalized treatment plan for you. Our care team will conduct a thorough psychiatric evaluation with you, carefully reviewing any relevant records or tests, and collaborate with other providers as necessary. The psychiatric
evaluation is the vital first step that will provide the information needed to begin developing your treatment plan and working towards
recovery.

Medication Management

Medication is the most commonly used tool by psychiatrists to help patients feel better. Your provider will evaluate you to determine if
medication could be a suitable treatment for you. Before writing any prescriptions, they will discuss their findings with you and obtain your
consent. If medication isn’t the right fit for you, your provider will discuss alternative treatments for depression, anxiety, or other mental
health disorders. If you don’t experience succifient relief, your provider will discuss other options for you that may or may not involve
medication.

TMS Therapy

Traditional antidepressants may not always be effective or may have side effects that exacerbate symptoms rather than alleviate them. Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an FDA-approved treatment designed to stimulate inactive parts of the brain in individuals with Major Depressive Disorder, bipolar depression, anxiety, PTSD, and OCD. Bespoke specializes in personalized TMS therapy tailored to each
individual’s unique brain functioning. Our medical team carefully considers how the mental health disorder presents in your brain when creating your therapy protocol. Throughout the treatment, we closely monitor progress and adjust the therapy based on results to ensure full
recovery.

Spravato Esketamine Nasal Spray

Spravato (esketamine) nasal spray is the only FDA-approved ketamine-based treatment for depression. Unlike most other antidepressant
medications, it comes in a nasal spray formulation and is rapid-acting, sometimes offering relief in as little as 24 hours. Spravato esketamine
nasal spray is administered in our Santa Monica in our special psychedelic treatment rooms. While Spravato is FDA-approved for Major Depressive Disorder and suicidal ideation only, other forms of ketamine therapy might be appropriate for individuals struggling with
other issues.
